does it mean to be sanctified? In what areas does God desire me to be
sanctified? Those are some of the questions we address from 1
Thessalonians in this message.

Simple Motherhood Ministry:
|
- Evergreen Valley Church has a ministry for mothers called Simple Motherhood.
(Expecting mothers and mothers with children of all ages are included!).
We are meeting generally the first Tuesday morning each month with additional days some months.
- The Simple Motherhood monthly meetings are not a bible study, but a place to come and hear biblical
truths from Anne Catrett's life and motherhood experience. She will be sharing more about her life
journey and from the Captivating book over the next several months. But, mostly this is a place for
moms to gather, relax, meet one another, take a break from the never ending "to do list," receive, be
encouraged, be redirected to God (because we're so easily distracted!), and share about our
motherhood journey together.
Also, this is a group for women in various seasons of motherhood, not just in the babyhood/toddler years.
Please contact Teresa Martinez , t.martinez.gonzales@gmail.com, to get on our mailing list or
if you have further questions.

Ethiopia Updates
|
12/12/11
To our friends at Evergreen Valley Church. Many of you have been asking us about the status of our Ethiopian adoption so I wanted to get an update out to you. Sherry and I are so grateful for your prayers and loving support.
We passed court in Ethiopia on November 29th for Challa and Sedia, however the judge said she could not pass Rediet because of conflicting court documents regarding her father as being either missing or deceased. She gave us a follow-up date for Friday December 9th while they investigated. Unfortunately Sherry and I were leaving Ethiopia on December 7th but on that very day, about four hours before our flight home, we got a call from our agency informing us that Rediet had been cleared by the judge. So we now are the legal parents of these three beautiful children. We couldn't ask for a greater Christmas gift from God.
Unfortunately we could not yet bring them home as we now wait on the U.S. Embassy in Ethiopia to give us an appointment to clear them to come home into the United States. It is hard to say how long that process could take however we are hoping for that clearance in about 4 to 6 weeks.
We ask you to continue to pray for us as we wait. I have attached a photo of our family. I cannot wait to let you all meet them.
God has shown me so much about His love for us as adopted children of God. His passionate pursuit of us and His willingness to give it all, even His Son, now means more than ever. And His love for me as a Father is clearer than ever.
Merry Christmas to you all, Pastor Dennis and Sherry
7/17/11
Praise God for the Ethiopia team's safe return after 2 weeks and for the ministry that the Lord
has done through them in Ethiopia.
7/10/11
Our short term mission team
of 11 people is in Ethiopia working alongside local missions that EVC supports to
minister to the people of Ethiopia. They are visiting homes and delivering supplies
to families affected by HIV. They are also hosting a two day youth retreat to
disciple students sponsored through Transformation Love. They are traveling with
Church Planters from the Horn of Africa into the Rift Valley to evangelize Ethiopian
Muslim tribes and will be laying the foundation stone for a new school that EVC
has raised funds for in Dahwe village. We are still a little short on funding so any
financial support is appreciated. Thank you for your prayers and support EVC!
Sent 6/23/11
Sherry has arrived safely in Ethiopia along with Laurie de Cesare. Through the ministry of Transformation Love, they will be working with women rescued from prositution on the streets this week in Dire Dawa.
We leave this Sunday with the rest of the team. Going along with me will be Steve Belarmino, Amber Hook, Kristy and Heather Heath, Greg Perry, Brian Watts, Katie Assadi, and Shannon Larsen. We will meet up and work with an additional team of six from North Carolina. With seventeen people in all this should be an amazing opportunity for ministry.
During our trip we will be working with Transformation Love ministering to children and their families affected by HIV. We will be visiting homes, bringing food and supplies, and praying for the people. We have plans to have a special day ministering to all the mothers and children of Transformation Love. We are hosting and leading a two day Student Retreat for the older students sponsored through Transformation Love with the theme coming from Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD. "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future." Please pray for these students and pray for us as we lead them to follwo Jesus.
We are making a trip into the Rift Valley with Bekele of the Horn of Africa Mission. During the trip we are going to visit many of the HOAM Church Planters and go into two tribal villages to share the good news with the people. This will be a life changing moment for the team. We are going to be laying the foundation stone for a country school in Dawa Village that EVC has raised funds to develop. This will serve as a great access ministry for the church planters to reach these muslim tribal people. The team will also be making ministry visits to the Hope Enterprise's Feeding Center and to the drop in center at Compassion Family International.
As we prepare to leave, we ask for your prayers that God will open the door and direct our minsitry as He sees fit. Pray for good health, safety, and the power of the Holy Spirit on each team member. We return on July 11 so please remember us daily in your prayers.
We have not yet completely met our financial goals for this team so if you would also pray for the funds to come in and if you are able to help please believe that every gift and every prayer makes a big difference for this trip.
If you would like to contribute you can drop off or send your donation to Evergreen Valley Church, 2750 Yerba Buena Avenue San Jose, CA 95121 or go online to www.evcsj.com and you can pay. Make sure your payment reflects that it is for the Ethiopia Mission Trip. Do that by writing in the memo portion of the check or attaching a post-it. For online donations I would recommend sending me or Eileen Roland an email that you gave online so I can alert Eileen of the purpose of the payment.
Peace in Christ,
Dennis Hadley
Update from last trip: 4/16/11
Pastor Dennis and Sherry Hadley returned safely to San Jose from their trip to Ethiopia. They had a wonderful time
for ministry and relationship reunion. Read all about it in his letter to us.

InnVision Homeless Ministry
|
InnVision
358 N Montgomery St.
San Jose, CA
- Evergreen Valley Church has had a ministry to the homeless at InnVision shelter in downtown on Montgomery street for many years.
We currently provide a Thursday night Bible Study and Prayer group led by Steve Belarmino and we have Church on Sunday
nights led by Greg Perry at the shelter. However we are not providing meals currently as we are without a kitchen and cook.
We recently lost the use of our kitchen facilities and are in search of a new one. If you have ideas we would love to hear them.
A couple weeks ago, we were saddened by the loss of our friend and our cook, Glen Rieken, who passed away. We are now in
search of a cook/team of people to lead the prepation and cooking at the shelter. In the past we have provided, prepared,
and served food to 150 to 180 people every Thursday. In order for this ministry to continue we will need to find answers
to these issues. We know God is in control and we look forward to His leading.
Contact Pastor Dennis at dhadley@evergreenvalleychurch.org to get involved.
